THE PROBLEM
You're curious. You want to learn more about how the world works, why people act the way they do, how decisions are made, what's going on beneath the surface of things. So you go looking for answers.
But what you find are articles filled with technical terms, academic studies, and professional jargon that feels like it was written for professors. Most psychology and economics blogs are hard to understand. They’re often filled with complicated language, long explanations, and a tone that feels more like a lecture than a conversation. It can be discouraging when you're genuinely curious but can’t connect with the way the information is presented.
We’ve run into this ourselves. Sometimes we just want to learn something cool or think about a topic in a new way, but end up feeling lost or bored before we even get halfway through the article. It made us realize that insight shouldn't feel out of reach.
OUR SOLUTION
At Curiously Speaking, we explain economic/finance and psychology concepts through modern trends and pop culture that surrounds you everyday.
We write in language that's easy to understand and enjoyable to read, because we believe learning shouldn't feel out of reach. And while most blogs aim to sound polished or professional, we aim to feel clear and human.
We break things down the way we'd explain them to a friend. We make connections between things you didn't even know were connected. We ask questions, explore answers, and invite you along for the ride.
Other blogs might feel like lectures. We feel like a conversation.
HOW DOES OUR SOLUTION WORK?
We designed Curiously Speaking to be simple and approachable. Here's how it works:
1. Visit our site and browse our posts. Topics vary from cultural trends to technology to social ideologies (all explored through a psychological and economic lens).
2. Read weekly. We post every week, each time covering a fresh topic with insight and personality.
3. Think with us. We want to make you pause, wonder, and maybe even go down your own rabbit hole after reading.
4. Engage. Share our posts, DM us, comment with your thoughts, or suggest something you want us to cover.
5. Subscribe. We're launching a newsletter soon so you never miss a new post.
No sign-ups. No paywalls. No academic degrees required.
Just a curious mind and a few minutes of your time
WHY US?
Because we're doing something different.
Most econ and psych blogs are either too dry or too complicated. They talk to you, not with you. They assume you already understand the frameworks, terms, or studies. And if you don't, well, good luck.
Curiously Speaking makes the same ideas feel understandable, interesting, and even fun. We offer the perspective of students who love learning and thinking and because we're not trying to sound like experts, our insightful writing is refreshingly easy to follow.
We also cover topics that don't make the curriculum at school and the in-between stuff that shapes everyday life in subtle but important ways.
Compared to a blog like BehavorialEconomics.com, which is built for researchers and academics, we're built for the curious general reader. We're not here to replace those blogs, but we're here to offer a bridge to them.
We make the big ideas feel small enough to hold onto.

Hi! My name is Shreyal, but you can call me Shrey! I'm an ENTJ who brings the economic lens to our articles. A fact about me is I have an insatiable curiosity and a drive to explore the world, knowing there is never enough knowledge for me to consume (hence the blog's name, lol). I’ve trained as an Indian Classical Vocalist for over seven years and love diving into new ragas. You will almost always catch me trying something new or challenging myself. I’ve learned instruments like the guitar, piano, and sitar, explored almost every music genre out there, memorized all the U.S. presidents and the flags of every country in the world, tried to become a grandmaster in chess and sudoku, played countless sports besides volleyball, learned to make new dishes, and drawn and painted with my dad. Honestly, there’s not a hobby out there I haven’t at least tried, and once something catches my interest, I throw myself into it completely.
I’m passionate about helping people, creativity, and understanding how people and systems work, especially when it comes to money, economics, and global issues. One day, I hope to be a businesswoman leading something meaningful or a financial analyst on Wall Street.
Curiously Speaking gives me the space to explore the subjects I care about most while making them fun, engaging, and accessible. I hope our articles leave a lasting impression and spark your curiosity, especially when you see these ideas in the world around you. Thanks for being here, and enjoy exploring with us!
Hi! My name is Michelle, but you can call me Shelly! I'm an ESTJ who brings the psychological perspective to our articles! I'm passionate about studying the human mind, whether it's biologically or emotionally, mental health advocacy, and music! I've played the piano for over 10 years now, and I've played the violin for 8, but I really want to learn to play the cello! Pink is my absolute favorite color (seriously, everything I own is pink!), and one of my favorite things to do is hang out with my friends! I am a huge stationary fan, and I love making pretty study guides, watch back to school videos, or play with my bullet journal! Something about me is that I ADORE The Good Doctor and that I watch it with my sister almost every single night. It's honestly such a great way to bond. I highly recommend it! My big dream is to become a pediatric neurologist so I can combine my passion for biology and experience with neurology while working with kids!
Because of my passion for all things with the brain, I'm also very interested in the psychological aspect of the mind. Why are we the way we are? Curiously Speaking lets me dive into fascinating world of psychology and share all that excitement with you. I hope you have fun reading our articles and getting to know more about us and the topics we discuss!

Hi! Xin chào! My name is An, with the "A" prounounced like in "Apple". I'm the fourth voice of Curiously Speaking from Hanoi, Vietnam and the INTP who brings the economics depth to our articles through data-driven storytelling.
At my core, I'm a quintessential introvert who usually ends up down a rabbit hole researching any terms, theories, and phenomena that pique my interest. I can spend hours studying datasets, transforming statistics and testimonials into compelling narratives that explain human behavior on both individual and market scales. I also enjoy breaking down financial and economics jargon into digestible insights using pattern recognition, always digging beneath formulas to understand how each variable connects to the bigger picture. Beyond numbers, I'm a huge dog lover who dreams of adopting five dogs one day, and I have a sentimental side that comes through in love for journaling and writing heartfelt appreciation letters to my loved ones.
Looking ahead, I'm working toward obtaining highly acclaimed financial qualifications and building a career in banking, portfolio management, or risk analysis while possibly running a business with my team on the side.
Curiously Speaking offers me the perfect outlet to present the topics I'm passionate about in a thought-provoking and accessible way. I hope our insights resonate and stick with you long after you've finished reading, especially when these topics pop up in your everyday life!
Hi! My name is Elaine, and I’m one half of Curiously Speaking, bringing the business and finance perspective to our content. I’m from Canada, and just last month I completed my first skydive from 15,000 feet—hoping to become a solo skydiver now that I’m finally old enough! I also have my boating license and love diving into new challenges.
What really drives me is understanding how financial systems and markets actually work behind the headlines. I’m fascinated by everything from why certain countries’ economies thrive while others struggle, to how major corporations build their business empires, to the real stories behind financial crises and market crashes — I love connecting the dots between complex systems and real-world outcomes.
My goal is to become either a businesswoman leading something meaningful or a financial analyst on Wall Street. Curiously Speaking is where I get to take all these interests and turn them into engaging, accessible content. Thanks for being here with us, and I hope you enjoy exploring these topics with me and our team!
MARKETING MANAGER

Emma Shi
Hi, my name is Emma Shi, my favorite color is red, and I see the world through both artistry and analysis. Rhythmic gymnastics has been at the center of my life for over a decade, shaping not only how I move but also my thought process. That same mindset carries over into this blog, where I manage our digital marketing and occasionally contribute as a writer on the economic side of our articles. Training and competing as a USA National Elite athlete has taught me resilience, creativity, and the discipline to grow continuously. These lessons extend far beyond the carpet, shaping both my writing and my work behind the scenes.
Beyond gymnastics, I am deeply curious about how people and systems work, especially in the fields of business and finance. I enjoy asking questions about fairness, opportunity, and strategy, and I love finding ways to make complex ideas more approachable and meaningful. I can happily lose myself in a deep dive, whether it’s analyzing company reports, studying market patterns, or connecting lessons from sport to business. To me, sport and economics are not so different; they both invite us to look closely, think critically, and search for connections that might otherwise be overlooked.
I believe growth comes from bringing together creativity, analysis, and equity, and I am always looking for new ways to connect these ideas. This space is where I share the subjects that inspire me most, and I hope it sparks curiosity for you too. Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to exploring these ideas together.
